1 – the prophetic sunnah
Our foundation and parameter for parenting resources is that of orthodox Islam, with a particular interest in conveying examples found in the Prophetic Sunnah, traditions of the Salaf, and scholarly accounts.
2 – a parent-centered approach
Change within the parent-child relationship and in the home begins with the parent. Shifts in the direction of compassionate parenting has a direct connection to a child’s behavior. We promote a parent-centered approach because a parent who is well-informed and intentional about his or her parental behavior and in the parent-child relationship is invaluable to the healthy development of that child.
3 – the Parent-Child Relationship
Safeguarding the integrity of the parent-child relationship is of utmost importance when we choose to parent positively; thus, we prioritize the relational safety and overall well-being (emotional, mental, & physical) of both the parent and child.
4 – A High Achieving Islamic home
The home is meant to be a place of safety, refuge, and belonging. It is also the first exposure of a child to its familial habits, familial values, and religious culture. We value and encourage optimizing the home to be a place of Islamic cultivation, education, good character, and kindness between the parents and the children.
5 – PositivE Discipline strategies
We value positive discipline strategies, current research in child development, and parenting tools that are in accordance with, and do not contradict, our Islamic beliefs.
6 – The 8 C’s of every parenting moment:
We believe every parenting moment is an imprint onto the child’s development and maturation of his future self; thus, we value the parent’s embodiment and modelling of the following traits in those moments:
1 – Compassion
2 – Connection
3 – Calm
4 – Curiosity
